Good morning Green Bay! Enjoy this warm weather while it lasts, because before we know it there'll be snow on the ground again (of course, with the cold comes the chance to kick the Vikings & Betty Favre's a$$).

I've heard tons of rumor and rumblings about 26 cutting to an absolute bare bones staff with major cuts, one man band reporters, production crews out on their butts, and even some big-wigs leaving their positions.

Would you kindly clear the air and let me know exactly what's going on? I hate to see friends out of work, and I hate hearing about it through the grapevine, so how about a first hand, or at least very knowledgeable account?

Is it true that NBC 26, wants John Shelby back in Green Bay??? I heard a call was made last week. What's this- tough times?
Last week- the station fired Mr. Shelby's replacement, after ratings took a huge dive. Remember- under John Shelby, the station produced it's best book EVER. Since Mr. Shelby's departure- it's been ugly. Positions lost. Shows lost. Numbers vanished.

This area is in need of an additional radio station with a real commitment to news. WTAQ has a good staff. But they seem too much right of center. Dumping CBS for the Murdoch Propaganda Service is just the latest example. I'm not saying our area needs an all news station. Even a music or sports station with regularly scheduled newscasts which would serve as a balance to one news voice would be welcomed. There really hasn't been anything along that line since WDUZ went all...

so im watching ms golston reporting live from dc tonight using skype...what? why on earth would you use skype? oh wait, i kno.....they canned joe the sat truck guy...oh yeah, and 2 photogs arent' being replaced...so is she all by hearself over there? also heard the last web person got canned, along with a commercial prod. dude. and some shows got cut as well...any details???? so much for best site in the market. and how are you supposed to get any video when theres no fotogs left?...

A little birdie pirched near North Road, is doing a lot of singing lately. Word from within Journal is that Kylie Bungles will be taking a reporting position at CH. 13 Action News in Las Vegas. He's replacing Jeff Gradney, who was fired for soliciting sex on the internet. BTW- it was a former 26'er who tipped off KTNV management.* Journal owns BOTH stations.

I hope Bungles is ready to LEAD THE WAY. Pitching softball story ideas won't work in Sin City. Oh yea-...

This has to be the dumbest slogan since "Going Places". I'm guessing it's geared towards consumer reporting. We're in your corner fighting for you. But come on, "In Your Corner"? More like backed into a corner. Nothing like a vague catchphrase to bring the viewers in. Yeah that'll work, brilliant!

Favre coverage - WFRV ruled!

Congrats to WFRV for being the first (before the Milwaukee stations, and even Sportscenter) to announce the news that Brett Favre had been traded to the Jets. They broke in with the announcement at around 11:10, kept it short and sweet, aired the local spots they missed, and went right back into Letterman.

10 minutes later, WBAY had a crawl, WGBA followed shortly thereafter. WLUK had NOTHING through about 11:45 (when I went to bed).

Not sure which Milwaukee station it...

Former WGBA ND Tedd O'Connell dies

Tedd O'Connell, a veteran newsman who built the first news department at WGBA-TV, Channel 26, in the mid-1990s, died Monday at his Ashwaubenon home. He was 69 and had been diagnosed with cancer earlier this summer.

When Channel 5 sent Donald Robinson to cover a pro-Favre rally, he said it happened in front of the "Curly Lombardi" statue. It happened about a week ago, since no one watches them anymore, maybe you missed it. It's one of the most stupid things ever said on air-- and it's not even the most slam-worthy part of that night. lets here what people think about last nights weather coverage. i personally started on 5 and checked out 26 a bit, then settled on fox.

wasn't impressed with mahoney...kept on tlaking about too much extra crap. zalaski was at the desk...got a kick out of how many times he mentioned "we are not doing this for ratings. we just want to keep you and your families safe." blah blah blah. the funniest part was when he said "if your watching us on time warner...
